The Innovative Practices for Increased Ridership application is the
central information repository and dissemination resource on innovative
strategies that transit systems have utilized to increase ridership.
Although this site will be open to the general public, it is intended
for use primarily by transit organizations.
The goal is to assist transit organizations in increasing ridership
by collecting information from transit agencies that were able to achieve
increases through innovative practices.
The following describes the information being collected,
how to complete each field, and how some information may
be used:
Transit Agency Information - Information
publicly available will include Transit Agency name,
Address, Phone, Fax, and URL. The listed contact's name
and business email address are available only to FTA
users with special access, for internal use only.
Web Address - This information is not required, but is
exceptionally useful to FTA. If a website URL is
available for your agency, please provide it.
Area Population Size - The type of area being
served by the transit agency in standard FTA population
breakdown.
Did ridership increase? - While identifying
practices that have resulted in increases in ridership
is the primary focus of this website, an innovative
practice may have turned back or reduced declines in
ridership. These measures also provide valuable lessons
that will be shared on the website.
How much did ridership increase? - The
percentage (%) of gross increase over the previous
calendar year (or other relevant time period) that
ridership changed. Please indicate the
relevant time period.
Innovation Type - The "Innovative Practices
that Have Contributed to Ridership Increases."
Click the field to view a listing of potential
innovation types. If "Other" is
selected, please provide a brief description.
Innovation Subtype(s) - Please select all
innovation subtypes that apply to the Innovative Practice
(note, these are not related directly to the Innovation
Type) specified by holding the control key ("Ctrl")
and clicking each subtype needed. If not
found in the list, please provide a brief description.
Project Title - Title or brief one-line
description to help FTA analyze and categorize the Innovative
Practice.
Description - Please provide a summary (100 - 300 words)
that explains the salient features of
the project. You can type this in, but it will be more
effective to use a word processor to draft and spell check your submission.
Cut and paste this text into the Description field.
